For anyone not familiar with it, it's a wonderful online journal of poetry "of the fantastical" edited by Amal El-Mohtar and Jessica P. Wick.
I'm thrilled and honoured that a poem of mine has been included in this latest issue.
Their past issues are archived on the website and are very well worth getting lost within.
Enjoy!
Goblin Fruit Winter 2012
That's a fantastic piece of writing, I love the unsettling strength of it and the imagery...
ReplyDeleteMy favourite stanza is:
'My brothers drifted skyward
only to lose their dream-black feathers
which fell to earth
as a shower of words'
Wonderful... :)
Oooo.... great, evocative piece! I read it over and over along with your reading of it. How fun is that! Now all the possible stories are spinning in me......
ReplyDeleteoooowuh, I love poetry ... just posted a blog on love poetry for v[day] at my work site (pls. come visit and >>> comment? www.universitybookstore.blogger.com.)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Lynn!!! You are published!
your poem evokes a story, have you considered writings longer forms? i especially like the last stanza ... i have a relative who might've symbolically done what you have depicted ... it is disturbing - in the way a writer would want it to be - and stays with you.
maybe someday i will share my bad poetry with you ... and, no, i am not being humble. lol.
Your writing is beautiful and so is your blog. Really inspiring work!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being published, what a great achievement!
Best wishes from a new follower.
Jo May.
Stunning poem, Lynn! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment, Carrie!
ReplyDeleteValerianna, thank you. I'm sorry the recording volume was too low - it's the first time I've played with MP3 recordings.
Glad you liked it Jan, thanks! I love writing short stories too, and have a few in the works right now. I will definitely check out your post at the university bookstore - thanks for the link. (I've got some astonishingly bad poetry of my own I could share...)
Thank you, Joanna! And welcome to my blog. I'm looking forward to popping over to yours.
Thank you so much, Cathrin.
